When East meets West......

East meets West – the Scottish cake-off!

We thought we would start 2013 with a cracker of an event and are going to hold East meet West, the Scottish cake-off.

Along with our friends in the West, the Glasgow Bakers  this joint event will take place on Sunday 20th January at 28 York Place, Edinburgh.

With our tongues very much in our cheeks, we will be having a ‘cake-off’ with our friends from the west to see who can produce the best ‘showstopper’ cake. Why not start 2013 with a massive sugar high and dive in to a selection of the best cakes in Scotland? We’ve found a larger-than-normal venue to host lots of Glasgow Bakers with the rest of the attendees made up of Edinburgh Cake Ladies, old and new.

What to bake

We want to see a showstopper cake from everyone attending that demonstrates the best of your baking ability.

We’re not going to be judging them seriously, but perhaps we will see who can produce the most amount of ‘wows’ in the room.

No cupcakes at this one please – we’re dreaming of a roomful of cakes!

How to get a place

Ali aka @Hungrysquirrels on twitter is kindly organising the Glasgow Bakers that can come through for the afternoon and once we know how many of them are paying us a visit, we’ll fill the rest of the places with Edinburgh Cake Ladies (we will do another blog post when you can apply for your place).

There are a total of 50 places available.

Well behaved children are welcome.

The venue is a relaxed hotel with a function room (which we will use) but any Glasgow Bakers that wish to do the journey with their partners/husbands can leave them in the upstairs bar where they’ll be kept company by friendly bar staff and a 42inch tv on the sport channel.

Time – 2pm – 4pm
Where – 28 York Place, Edinburgh, EH1 3EP

As usual, teas, coffees and drinks will be purchased from the venue. We will be setting up the room so that each table is a mixture of Glasgow Bakers and Edinburgh Cake Ladies. Let’s get to know each other over tea and cake!
